According to the decision of the Thai immigration service, Russians can now extend their visa-free stay in the country for an additional 30 days. Previously, this period was limited to a week. To extend the period of stay, Russians need to contact the Thai immigration service by providing their passport and filling out an application. For this service, a fee of 1,900 Thai baht is charged, which is about five thousand rubles.
It was previously reported that Russians made up the largest group of foreign tourists on the island of Phuket in September 2023. Director of the European Region Department of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Tirasil Thapen, expressed hope that Thailand will receive more than 1.2 million Russian tourists by the end of this year and reach the number of 1.5 million travelers from Russia by 2024, restoring tourism flow after the pandemic.
